Play Therapy can help.
Child-Centred Play Therapy (CCPT) is a specialised model of child counselling uniquely and specifically suited to children aged 3-14. CCPT is proven to help children prevent or resolve emotional, behavioural and developmental challenges; reduce anxiety; work through painful and traumatic events; and increase self-esteem.
Play is a child's natural language; thus, it makes sense to use play therapeutically. Children need to play through - not talk through - their issues. Unlike adults who are cognitive and logical, children are driven by their emotions and live in the here and now. In Play Therapy, rather than asking children to talk about their feelings and behaviour choices, they are able to use toys and play to release pent-up emotions (and there are a lot!) and practice new ways of acting and relating.
In Synchrony Child Counselling's curated Play Therapy room, your child will be given the tools, the time and the opportunity to express and navigate their painful experiences and emotions, make sense of their world, and learn valuable new skills and behaviours. This process is proven to facilitate the child's personal growth in four essential areas: Increased self-esteem, improved self-regulation, greater worldview (empathy; cause & effect), and enhanced emotional literacy.

connection
If you are considering counselling for your child, and would like to know more about how Child-Centred Play Therapy can help, please contact Synchrony Child Counselling to arrange a parent consultation.
(Call, text or email)
in-person consult
The first consultation is with parents only. This allows us to discuss your concerns, your child’s development, and any past intervention. I will explain the play therapy process, how we can help your child, and answer any questions you have.
(60 minutes)
play sessions
The first time I meet your child is during their initial play therapy session. At the end of this session, I will ask the child if they would like to come back and play with me again next time. (They will!) We will then schedule regular play sessions.
(60 minutes)
review meetings
Every five weeks I meet with parent/s (only) to discuss your child’s progress, review therapy goals, and to allow you to provide feedback and ask questions. We can also discuss parenting strategies or school supports.
